Interspecies Friendships: Part 15

Many of you may have already seen this fascinating and heartwarming video about Jessica the Hippo. Jessica has apparently decided, entirely on her own, to be semi-domesticated and share a portion of her life with humans.

I have to admit it's a bit comical to see a hippopotamus open the back door and breeze into the kitchen. Maybe because I'm not used to it.

I'm touched by the scene in which her adopted human family is giving her a rubdown. You can tell she likes it and that they have affection for each other.

And the last part of the video where the dog nuzzles up to Jessica—well, you just have to see it. It will make you smile and give you a warm feeling.

I'm amazed—and yet not amazed—at the diversity of individuals from disparate species who befriend each other and understand each others' kindnesses. Perhaps kindness is the universal language.

Wow! I hadn't seen that video yet, and I was touched. It's cute enough when two of my cats cuddle up to one another -- I can't imagine if they were curled up with a hippo under a pink blankey!

That is awesome. I'm totally linking to this.
