Musical Roots

Some night this summer, when you have a few minutes, walk outside to a spot that's far from traffic and air conditioners and other human noises. And just listen. That's the music our ancient ancestors heard. That's the music we heard for millennia — all the way back. Humans, bears, wildcats, all the animals. You'll hear insects and the occasional cry of a bird or call of a mammal. But most of all, it's the crickets. The night is alive now as it was then with their songs.
